Cobble Rocks GalaSaturday, May 15, 2010 – 7 pm at Cobble Beach, Owen Sound Amazing auction and fundraising party to support the Tom Thomson Art Gallery’s Exhibitions, Programs and the Permanent CollectionOn May 15th at 7 pm., the Tom Thomson Art Gallery presents Cobble Rocks Gala at Cobble Beach - an extraordinary evening with spectacular gourmet food, dancing to rock ‘n roll by The Danny Marks Combo, amazing live and silent auctions, refreshments and surprises. Celebrated artist, Judy Chicago, has kindly donated Through the Flower, a limited edition digital print for the live auction. Both the silent and live auctions will feature original works by artists such as Aganetha Dyck, George McLean, Allan Harding McKay, Ann Beam, Alan Glicksman and Jean Francis, experiences such as Cobble Beach’s Great Getaway package and enticing items like the Kronan 3-speed Woman's Bicycle to tickle your fancy. Bids are accepted on all auction items at the event or by phone during the event or by calling in advance to the Gallery. Tickets are $100 each, $90 for members (with a tax receipt) for what promises to be a magnificent evening. Aganetha Dyck is a prominent contemporary Canadian artist and recipient of the Governor General’s Award in Visual Arts in 2007. Her “collaborative” work with bees has been the subject of numerous documentaries and profiles including David Suzuki’s The Nature of Things.
